Have your emoji toppings ready before you start

When your yummy pancakes are ready, you want to be able to tuck in straight away. To enjoy them at their best, make sure to lay out your chosen emoji faces and toppings before you start cooking. That way, your food won’t go cold while you rummage in the cupboard for a lemon or some chocolate spread!

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl

  • Small bowl

  • Sift

  • Whisk

  • Large spoon or ladle

  • Non-stick frying pan

Ingredients

Instructions

Sift the self-raising flour and baking powder into a mixing bowl, and add in the caster sugar also.

In another smaller bowl, we are going to mix the wet ingredients, crack in the egg, and whisk together with the milk.

Make a well in the middle of your dry ingredients and pour in the egg and milk.

Mix until you have a smooth consistency.

Add the delicious Gem Chocolate chips.

Place a lightly oiled pan on a medium heat, spray oil is great for this, especially when making pancakes with children.

When the pan is nice and hot, pour in a ladle full of the mix.

Wait for the little holes to appear on the surface then flip and fry the other side.

Notes

Melt the Gem Choc chips and make funny emoji faces using fruits like strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.
