Sweet and Savoury Pastry

Equipment

  • mixing bowl

  • mixing spoon

  • knife

  • scales

Ingredients

  • Sweet Pastry:

  • 125g butter, soft

  • 125g Gem caster sugar

  • Dash vanilla extract

  • 1 medium egg

  • 250g Gem plain flour

  • Savoury Pastry:

  • 270g Gem plain flour

  • 170g butter,cold & cubed

  • pinch salt

  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 medium egg

Instructions

Sweet Pastry

In a bowl, beat the butter and sugar until soft.
Add in the egg and vanilla and mix.
Finally, add the flour and mix until combined.
Wrap and chill for 30 minutes, and it's ready for use.

Savoury Pastry

Place the flour, nutmeg, butter, and salt into a mixing bowl and rub together until the mixture resembles a sandy texture.
Add the egg and mix until a dough forms.
Wrap the dough and placeitin the fridge to rest for 30 minutes, and its ready for use.
